SPJ offers lifetime membership, extends discount for recent grads

SPJ’s national board recently voted to offer two new membership options, providing great deals for SPJ’s newest members as well as seasoned veterans.

SPJ now offers lifetime membership for those who want to show their strong commitment to a free and open press while avoiding the hassle of paying annual national dues. Members can renew or join as lifetime members for a one-time cost of $1,000.

Lifetime members will enjoy all SPJ benefits for life, without paying annual dues, which are currently $72 per year for professionals. Lifetime members still will pay annual dues to their chapters, but San Diego chapter dues are a bargain at only $10 per year.

SPJ also has extended its post-graduate membership rates from two years to three. Any journalist who has been out of college for three years or less will pay just $36 per year. As a special incentive, any newly joining post-grad member can pay a lump sum of $72 for a three-year membership -- one-third off the regular price.
