A call for board candidates

SPJ is looking for a few good members of its board.

Throw your hat in the ring for the election for the 2008-09 Board of the Society of Professional Journalists San Diego Pro Chapter! Eight seats are up for election.

The board meets once a month to plan and organize the chapter's educational and social events, coordinate the annual awards contest, address issues of interests to the local journalism community, and more. If you'd like to be part of the board, all you have to do is declare your interest in running and provide a short bio that will be provided to members when ballots are mailed.

Important Dates:
- Deadline to declare your intent to run - Friday, May 9, 5 p.m.
- Deadline for candidates to submit bios (200-word max) - Monday, May 19, 5 p.m.
- Ballots mailed - Monday, June 2
- Deadline for ballots to be received by SPJ (not postmarked) - Monday, June 30, 5 p.m.
- Introduction of new board at SPJ Awards Banquet - Wednesday, July 16
