San Diego Multi-Cultural Journalism Workshop
Coming up in June is a two-week workshop for high school students interested in pursuing a career in journalism.
An association of journalists, teaming up with local media companies, are again offering a summer journalism workshop in San Diego.
The two-week workshop exposes students to real-life print or broadcast journalism, in the hopes that they will pursue careers in the news media. Selected students will produce a professional quality newspaper , a 30-minute television newscast and a radio news program.
The workshop will be housed at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, June 17 to June 29 , 2007 and will use the facilities of the campus newspaper, NBC7/39, and KPBS Radio at San Diego State University.
The workshop is open to students who are currently juniors and seniors in high schools in San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties. They don’t need to have journalism experience, but they do have to be good thinkers and writers, and be open to considering a career in the news media. We’re looking for a diverse pool of applicants.
The workshop is free for those students selected. Further, the best participants can compete for college scholarships.

The deadline for submitting the applications is April 13. Former workshop students have called it a life-changing experience. Help us reach as many students as possible.
