Want to improve your Internet skills in researching and reporting stories?
We are bringing two Internet gurus to San Diego to present a session on
"Beyond Google: Websites and Tools You Shouldn't Live Without." The
program will look at the various search engines out there, how to
assess a Web site's credibility, useful sites for reporters and the
best tools for specific reporting tasks.
The program is free and will be held from 10 a.m. to noon March 25 in the Union-Tribune first-floor auditorium.
Our presenters will be:
Alan M. Schlein, author of "Find It Online: The Complete Guide
to Online Research." Based in Los Angeles, he runs DEADLINE ONLINE
training for journalists, businesses, law enforcement and government
officials on how to use the Internet for research. He'll have several
copies of his book for sale, which we think you'll find very useful.
Veteran journalist and educator Neil Reisner.
He is an associate professor in the journalism program at Florida
International University. He has worked at the Miami Herald, the Bergen
Record, the Miami Daily Business Review and the National Institute for
Computer-Assisted Reporting. He also freelances and frequently speaks
at journalism conferences in this country and abroad.
