The annual holiday party returns to the Quality Inn at Point Loma from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. The evening will include food, discounted drink prices, a raffle, and a performance by professional magician Michael Johnson.
The party will be held in Riley’s Sports Bar & Lounge, which is located on the first floor of the Quality Inn at 2901 Nimitz Blvd. The venue has a bar, pool tables, a karaoke stage and a dance floor. The annual event was held in the same venue four years ago.
The party is being produced this year by the local chapter of the California Chicano News Media Association. In addition to the San Diego SPJ, other participating organizations are the local chapters of the Asian-American Journalists Association, the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and the National Black Journalists Association.
Admission has been cut in half from last year’s $10 to $5 to encourage more to come to the annual party. Those who pay in advance through their chapter president will receive eight raffle tickets with their admission. Those who pay at the door will receive five raffle tickets.
Well drinks will be discounted to happy-hour prices ($3 mixed drinks, $2 for all domestic beer), but premium call drinks will be at regular prices.
